I've been keeping people updated on my Facebook... but not here.

For those of you interested I spent from Saturday night until just a couple of hours ago in the hospital. I went in with symptoms similar to a gall bladder attack that began at 6 pm on Friday evening and was still going at 9 pm Saturday evening.

While waiting in the emergency room the pain intensified and moved to my left side and I ended up being admitted to the hospital again for pancreatitis.

On top of that I'm now diagnosed as a diabetic, had my gall bladder removed, and a hernia in my abdomen repaired.

Today I'm sore, stiff, and a little bit scared... if I can't change my lifestyle... namely eating habits and lose wait I'm staring my mortality in the face.

The End of an Era...

Elvis Presley... the Beatles... The Rolling Stones... Michael Jackson... seems like every decade has an music icon or two who seem to change the world of music.

I can admit that like nearly other child of the 80s I was greatly influenced by Michael Jackson and his Thriller album. I never liked what he became later in his life, but I can remember fondly how he revolutionized the music video.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his three children whom must be feeling the more than any of us.

Westtest, Day 4: Science

So far this week...

Students have done Math, Reading and Language Arts, & Social Studies. Today is the Science exam which is the one that most affects me. I'm confident the students I taught should be prepared, but whether they are remains to be seen.

Other things of note...

Car will need another transmission. Fortunately, the company that sent the other one has to pay for this one, but it means no car until Monday at the earliest.

One of my students left a sports bottle with soda in my room yesterday morning and by late morning it was swarming with ants... I'm writing him up... idiot!

Tomorrow is the big (although not so big) surprise for my wife. Her mother is coming into the house while she's at work and trying to clean it top to bottom. I hope we are able to keep it clean this time.

Vacation news: Father-in-law was able to get the rooms down to $211 for the week down from $252.

Well the Math portion of the West Test took 3 hours to complete. Ugh that was a long morning. No real problems though other than a student from my 4th block had left her notebook and one of the testers apparently stole all her notebook paper out of it and wrote derogatory comments about her.

Still don't know if my car will be ready, but I'm hopeful.

I'm looking forward to my next counseling session as I want to learn to be more assertive and not be so fearful of confrontation.

Looking forward to getting started writing again... I've really missed it.

Vacation is looking pretty good. The vacation packet sent to me by [info]hedwig5221 contained some discounts for both The Miracle and The Tennessee Shindig and The Apple Barn!!!!! Thanks loads for the packet!!!!

Still trying to keep up with my posting...

Sheesh! You'd think I forgot this was here wouldn't you?

The lack of updates are eithers due to 1) lack of interesting things to say and/or 2) I'm just not good at keeping up with it.

The New Year has come... Ally is 21 months old, chattering like a magpie, and running all over the house.

Right now I'm sitting at my school computer typing while I try to stay awake. I took an allergy relif pill which made me loopy all morning and I'm still trying to shake it off.

Other bits of news... my father-in-law wants to sell us his car. It's not a bad deal, but I worry we are streched too thin month to month to afford it.

I'm also running myself ragged as an indepenent contracter doing merchandising in local and not so local businesses.

I'm also on a Fireproof kick again... more about that later.

Brain Quiz

Firefly/Serenity Karaoke

Your result for The Right Brain vs Left Brain Test...

Left Brained!

Your results indicate you are 60 percent left brained.

Your answers indicate that you are more left brained than right brained. Approximately half the population is left brained. People who are left brained tend to be more logical, detail and fact oriented, pragmatic, and safe. You prefer order and structure. You tend to examine all the minute details rather than seeing the big picture, and you don't like doing things that haven't been planned in advance. Math, science, and language are subjects that probably interest you. You are the friend that often gets requests to help plan weddings or vacations. You are responsible and reliable. Physicist Stephen Hawking is left brained.

For those of you who don't know I'm a comic book fan. I haven't collected for well over 10 years... but one of my favorite reads was always Nightwing. For those of you who don't know Nightwing is the persona of Dick Grayson... the original Robin.

I was piddling around on YouTube when I stumbled across this movie and I'm still just in awe of it and wanted to share.
